About Us

Our Mission Statement

Share Christ. Build disciples. Send ministers.

Every member is called to *SHARE CHRIST* through word and deed, encouraging others to make a commitment to Him.
“Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if you are asked about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But you must do this in a gentle and respectful way.”

I Peter 3:15-16
The Church’s mission is to *BUILD DISCIPLES* who are growing in faith and learning to be more like Christ.
“I have been given complete authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore,go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28: 18-20
Every Christian is called to ministry and that the Church *SENDS its MINISTERS* to serve God’s world, starting here, starting now.
“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”

John 20:21

Our History

Thomasville Methodism dates back to 1838 when a group of Methodists began meeting regularly, led by a circuit riding minister from the Monticello District. The First Methodist Church was built in 1840 and was the only church in town for 9 years. Today, Thomasville First Church remains a fixture in downtown Thomasville and has grown in membership of close 1,000 people. Though proud of our rich history, we seek to meet the needs of modern worshipers by embracing both traditional and contemporary styles of worship. Of course our primary identity is as a church who seeks to minister locally and globally in the name of Jesus. We summarize our mission statement into six words: Share Christ, Build Disciples, Send Ministers. TFC is a place where families of all types can come together to worship, grow spiritually, and make a difference in the world.
